At 5 by 5 kilometres, it\u2019s smaller than Gondwa, but we\u2019ve leaned into more verticality by creating towering landscapes while also packing it with dense features, like canyons, rivers, and underground tunnels. There\\&#8217;s also new prehistoric foliage to break up the map and create more secluded areas while still providing several ways to traverse between them, including submerged caves, caverns, and Planning<\/h3>    <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n        <ul>\n<li>When the Level Design team was assigned to work on Path of Titans, we we\\&#8217;re all assigned to contribute and work together to create a new map for Path of Titans back in 2024. We began immediately in creating a detailed top-down map with specific biomes, how the world is going to be built and designed for the natural world of our Titans &amp; Dinosaurs.<\/li>\n<li>We went over with a <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Miro Board<\/strong><\/span> as well to go over specific details and what areas we wanted to work on as a <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Level Design Team<\/strong><\/span>. You can see how all of the landscape is colored like it was colored with Crayons to help guide us with our landscape painting, our path creation, and to focus on our <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Points of Interests<\/strong><\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>    <\/div>\n<\/div>\n<!-- \/module text -->        <\/div>\n                    <\/div>\n                <div  data-lazy=\"1\" class=\"module_subrow themify_builder_sub_row tf_w gutter-narrow col_align_top tb_col_count_2 tb_b713039\">\n                <div  data-lazy=\"1\" class=\"module_column sub_column col4-2 tb_aeeec0d first\">\n                    <!-- module text -->\n<div  class=\"module module-text tb_3f3a219  repeat \" data-lazy=\"1\">\n    <h3 class=\"module-title\">Landscape Painting, Blending, and Path Designs<\/h3>    <div  class=\"tb_text_wrap\">\n        <ul>\n<li>One of the toughest things we had to do from specifically Grayboxing in the Unannounced Project to Path of Titans, was to adapt and learn how to make realistic and fun environments using <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Landscape Textures (Grass, Stone, and Dirt)<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Landscape Blending<\/strong><\/span> for our paths and the environment.<\/li>\n<li>I worked with my Lead Level Designer, Lucas Lemmond to get advice, <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Training Sessions,<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>1 on 1 Level Design Talks<\/strong><\/span> to learn how to make exceptional and beautiful environments. It featured small floating island sections, a beautiful Coastal Peak environment, and offered <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Quest Opportunities<\/strong><\/span> as well for Aquatic to Land Dinosaur interactions, PvE &amp; PVP.<\/li>\n<li>This was one of my main Points of Interest I was fully responsible for into designing! I got to make an awesome lake section inside the Redwood area, and do a ton of path creation and landscape design for space with our giant Redwood Trees!<\/li>\n<li>The main interest and idea for this <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Point of Interest<\/strong><\/span> was to offer a lot of opportunities for PvP interaction, specifically for <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Stealth<\/strong><\/span> and <span style=\\\"text-decoration: underline;\\\"><strong>Sight Lines<\/strong><\/span> using the Redwood Forest around players. There\\&#8217;s tall trees, large bushes, large stones, and cliff rocks around the entire area for players to use for any advantage. We began immediately in creating a detailed top-down map with specific biomes, how the world is going to be built and designed for the natural world of our Titans &amp; Dinosaurs.<\/li> <li>We went over with a <strong>Miro Board<\/strong> as well to go over specific details and what areas we wanted to work on as a <strong>Level Design Team<\/strong>. I specifically picked to work on the <strong>Redwoods<\/strong>, and <strong>Palm Island<\/strong>, which was previously known as Coral Beak, since it looked like a bird\\'s beak at the East part of the map.<\/li> <\/ul>\n<img src=\"http:\/\/cjsharkey.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Mapcreator-1.png\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1024\" title=\"Riparia\" alt=\"Riparia\">\n<img src=\"https:\/\/i.imgur.com\/yNMglGw.gif\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1080\" title=\"Riparia\" alt=\"Riparia\">\n<h3>Environment Design & World Building<\/h3> <ul> <li>After our Pre-production layouts &amp; map ideas were solidified and set, we decided to go into <strong>Engine<\/strong> as soon as we could to start decorating and think of the <strong>Layout<\/strong> with the landscape of the world for Riparia.<\/li> <li>As you can see on the images showing on the left, we actually did a really awesome <strong>Unreal Engine<\/strong> trick, where we created our own <strong>Landscape Texture<\/strong> of our map layout and used it as a guide for landscape painting and sculpting for our environments &amp; biomes. You can see how all of the landscape is colored like it was colored with Crayons to help guide us with our landscape painting, our path creation, and to focus on our <strong>Points of Interests<\/strong>.<\/li> <\/ul>\n<h3>Landscape Painting, Blending, and Path Designs<\/h3> <ul> <li>One of the toughest things we had to do from specifically Grayboxing in the Unannounced Project to Path of Titans, was to adapt and learn how to make realistic and fun environments using <strong>Landscape Textures (Grass, Stone, and Dirt)<\/strong> and <strong>Landscape Blending<\/strong> for our paths and the environment.<\/li> <li>I worked with my Lead Level Designer, Lucas Lemmond to get advice, <strong>Training Sessions,<\/strong> and <strong>1 on 1 Level Design Talks<\/strong> to learn how to make exceptional and beautiful environments.
